Warcraft’s Dance Sources

Lot’s of people who play World of Warcraft wonder where the dances come from. Well, each dance from each race and sex has a unique origin–with only a couple exceptions. I won’t list them all here only the more rare ones that I get asked about a lot. However, for a good complete list of dance sources check out the Dancing page on WoWWiki.com.The female Draenai dance is based upon a belly dancing routine from Shakira.

The female Night Elf dance is J’en Ai Marre by Alizee.

The Druid travel form dance is from Scar in The Lion King doing “I’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts”. It’s a just a tiny, tiny portion of the scene and the video is seriously funny below.

The Baby Murloc pet does the Michigan Rag.

Most interesting is the Fel Reaver. He has a dance, but you can’t see it unless you use the WoW Model Viewer and it is not really a dance, but more a workout.Check out the WoWWiki site for more.

What If? - Kate Winslet

Kate Winslet starred in Titanic and she also sang this song for Christmas Carol: The Movie. Someone is going to ask where to buy this so here is the link to Amazon. I guess I am not alone in thinking this song is one of the most memorable and beautiful songs written. It is really moving in on being my favorite that is for sure. It is not new. But, it is absolutely lovely and Kate sings it with passion.

Here I stand alone
With this weight upon my heart
And it will not go away
In my head I keep on looking back
Right back to the start
Wondering what it was that made you change

Well I tried, but I had to draw the line
And still this question keeps on spinning in my mind
What if I had never let you go?
Would you be the man I used to know?
If I’d stayed?
If you’d tried?
If we could only turn back time?
But, I guess we’ll never know

Many roads to take
Some to joy, Some to heart-ache
Anyone can lose their way
And if I said that we could turn it back
Right back to the start
Would you take the chance and make the change?

Do you think how it would have been sometimes?
Do you pray that I’d never left your side?
What if I had never let you go?
Would you be the man I used to know
If I’d stayed?
If you’d tried?
If we could only turn back time?
But, I guess we’ll never know

If only we could turn the hands of time
If I could take you back would you still be mine?
‘Cause I tried, but I had to draw the line
And still this question keeps on spinning in my mind

What if I had never let you go?
Would you be the man I used to know?
What if I had never walked away?
‘Cause I still love you more than I can say.
If I’d stayed?
If you’d tried?
If we could only turn back time
But I guess we’ll never know. We’ll never know

Titanic Tribute Video

Those who know me may know of my somewhat obsessive interest in the Titanic and all things related to her. I could seriously write a book on the topic, but so many have been done already I see no need to add another. Looking across my living room to one of my bookshelves I see 3 full shelves dedicated to Titanic.I really don’t know why this ship and her passengers struck my heart in such a way. Seems odd. But, odd or not I have spent hour upon hour reading everything about this ill-fated voyage. The grand happiness and hope of a new dawning age and then the crashing reality of man’s folly and arrogance. This ship was a testament to mans’ power over nature and then, ironically, the opposite as well — man’s helplessness against nature.

Bruce Ismay: “This ship can’t sink!”Thomas Andrews: “She is made of iron, sir.I assure you she can and she will.”

The Titanic was an Olympic class ship commissioned by the White Star Line to help their sagging business against the Cunard line. There were three ships of this type constructed, the Olympic, the Titanic and later the Gigantic ( renamed to Britannic ). The Titanic was special in that White Star’s director, Bruce Ismay had extra fittings appointed to the Titanic in order to make it more luxurious.Of the original 2,200 people aboard almost 1,550 died. There is no way to relate the magnitude of this loss in the modern day. In Southampton, the home port of the Titanic, there was not a block where someone did not die. Imagine, in your city or town, to one day awaken and note that on every block at least one person died. Rumors where that not one person living in Southampton did not know at least one who died.Several famous people died as well, including the owner of the Macy’s department store chain and his wife, Isidor and Ida Strauss, but the real tragedy is that so many died at all. The feeling of helplessness and the stories told of selflessness help to continue the mystique. James Cameron’s movie also did quite a bit to make modern audiences aware of this tragedy in a way few storytellers could. His movie did what many have tried to do in the past–it brought us to Titanic. It allowed us, in our contemporary time, to visit another time and place. We shared in the event and even though we knew the ending we still watched on. Cameron chose to use a fictional couple, Jack and Rose, to tell the story. He was quoted as saying he had to for if he used one couple’s real story, it would make their story more important and he did not want to do that.If you have never seen this film, I highly recommend it. It is truly a modern masterpiece. You will probably never get to be so close to reality in a film of another time ( from a documentary and place / setting POV ) unless someone, somewhere invents a time machine.

Queen - Who Wants to Live Forever

Wow, I remember the first time I heard this song. The poignant lyrics still resonate — especially if you have ever seen Highlander. Sweet stuff!

Theres no time for us
Theres no place for us
What is this thing that builds our dreams yet slips away from us

Theres no chance for us
Its all decided for us
This world has only one sweet moment set aside for us

Who wants to live forever?
Who dares to love forever?
When love must die

Caylee Dak - In Memory of Dak Krause

Caylee Dak is a Quest Giver in World of Warcraft. One gets a quest from Alicia in Stormwind Keep to deliver Alicia’s poem to her friend Caylee at the Aldor Tier. The poem is lovely.

Caylee was named in honor of Dak Krause, who died of leukemia on August 22, 2007. The poem follows:

“Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.

I am in a thousand winds that blow,
across Northrend’s bright and shining snow.

I am the gentle showers of rain,
on Westfall’s fields of golden grain.

I am in the morning hush,
of Stranglethorn’s jungle, green and lush.

I am in the drums loud and grand,
the thunderous hooves across Nagrand.

I am the stars warmly gleaming,
over Darnassus softly dreaming.

I am the birds that sing.
I am in each lovely thing.

Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there. I do not die.”

God Speed Dak. Thank you.

F-Secure Posts FUD on Apple

Yep, another round of FUD ( Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt ) served up by F-Secure on Apple. They are saying that Macs are getting to be just as bad as Windows in the virus world.Yeah, sure. Right.

OK, here is the skinny. They say they found between 120-150 viruses and trojans for OS X last year. They also mentioned that of these almost ALL were just spins on 2 major ones. They also stated in the article that they found 500,000 viruses and trojans for Windows last year.

500,000. Really.

So, in their strange distorted world they think that 150 = 500,000. Seriously. To even compare the two is not statistically relevant. In case you are wondering 150 is .03% of 500,000.

To date there are 0, none, nada, zilch viruses which have hit the OS X community at large. Sure Norton had a few they made in a lab and so did McAfee, but they did not go public.I am not kidding there are 0 in the wild that can be proven or even statistically counted. Trojans, sure there are a couple but an amount less than 50 and even then Windows has over 200,000 known in the wild Trojans.

Note to journalists and writers: GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT and quit posting crap to garner hits on Google. Stop with the FUD. Start with the FACTS!
