A little background, this is the ending of the movie Final Yamato.
It marks the end of Space Battleship Yamato as Captain Okita destroys himself and the legendary ship in an act of ultimate sacrifice.
As the ship lies broken and beginning its decent into the depths of the ocean, again, Desslok, the Star Forces’ once nemesis and then ally looks on.
and the crew of the Yamato salute their captain and their ship.
I will never forget the first time I saw this movie and the sheer power of the final scenes is something to be impressed upon a viewer. If you ever enjoyed Star Blazers or Uchuu Senkan Yamato, then you should see this film.
