I was having a conversation with a friend yesterday and the question came up, “Whom do you think is the twelfth Cylon model?” If you are a fan of Battlestar Galactica this is an obvious and thought provoking question.

My thought, well, I believe the last Cylon model will be, ALL HUMANS. ;)

So, I guess I should back up this theory, huh? To do so let’s look at the top couple of contenders from our assembled cast.

Starbuck aka Kara Thrace from Battlestar Galactica
First, Starbuck. This is so obvious it’s meant to be a trap, I think. It’s too easy. It’s too obvious. If she does turn out to be the Cylon I will be depressed as I think that would a cop out for such a wonderfully written show.

Gaius Baltar with Caprica 6 and Number 3
Second, Gaius Baltar. He also is kind of a shoe-in and a character often thought to be a Cylon. BUT, I just don’t see it. He is too good a character as a human SEDUCED to the Cylon side to just toss him out as “oh, so he always was a Cylon. No wonder he went bad.”

Adama from Battlestar Galactica
Adama is always brought up as a possible Cylon as well. I would have a hard time believing that. He is the “man of science” to counter Roslyn’s “woman of faith” in the Human world. If either of them were Cylon it would be lame.

There are others, but I won’t pick apart everyone here. So, to the crux of the argument.

The last Cylon model will be ALL HUMANS or EVERYONE is a CYLON.

Here is why:

1. This would be cool and unexpected and will catch people off guard.
2. It would be revenge for all the “toaster” comments.
3. Unless we have an “unreliable narrator” the 4 human Cylons grew up as children and lived their lives as “normal” people. This really makes one wonder just how advanced the Cylon genetic engineering tech is, ya know.
4. Think of Colonel Tigh. I mean seriously, Tigh is a Cylon. Just think about that in this context.
5. Also, just think of this little gem. Cylons are machines. Humans are machines. Get ready…

A long time ago, Cylons were the dominant life form in this region of space. They created Humans in their image to be slaves for them. The Humans revolted and came up with their own religion and dogmas to replace the Cylon ones. Later, they “invented” Cylons who in turn wiped out the majority of humans and on and on and on it goes for all time. A giant cycle.

Please note, there are many times in this series where the Cylons say something like “This has all happened before and it will all happen again.” I think some of the Cylons know this is the case and this is why they won’t let the others search for the final Cylons. It would be kinda hard to kill a fellow Cylon vs. killing those nasty Huuuu-mans. :)

Oh you don’t think so. How about the fact that the RAIDERS not the command staff stopped attacking the Human fleet as soon as they realized Anders was a Cylon. Remember also that the 4 humanoid Cylons are “fundamentally different” than the others. Hmm…perhaps the old genetics have a way of showing up about every several hundred or thousand years or so.

OK, good enough for now. I need to get to work, but thought you might enjoy this little theory.
