The Onion has a great spoof on the current state of political reporting in the U.S. To quote:

Hailed by media critics as the fluffiest, most toothless, and softest-hitting coverage of the presidential candidate to date, a story in this week’s Time magazine is being called the definitive Barack Obama puff piece.

Too bad it is so close to being actually true. We don’t have reporters anymore. We have puppets and mannequins which, being mindless automotons, just read the news and look pretty. Sigh…

Oh well, at least the blogosphere is doing something. :)
