Apple Surpasses Google in Value

Apple’s market capitalization has now surpassed Google’s, Dell’s, Hewlett-Packard’s and more. Woot!

This means the combined value of Apple’s outstanding shares are more than those other guys. Heck, Apple is worth 3 TIMES as much as Dell.

Funny, Michael Dell gave some advice to Steve Jobs in an interview from when Jobs returned. ”I’d shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders.” Guess the shoe’s on the other foot now, huh, Michael.

Oh and note the hate in the Slashdot post I linked to. Funny how when a company does well it is evil and doing wrongly, but if they are struggling or just normal it is fine.

Sigh…

We don’t teach Capitalism in our schools. We teach Socialism/Communism and under those schemes hate for the successful is bred into humans early.

Sigh…

MacBook Air Experiences

Lovin’ the Air. There is only one way to put it. It Rocks! Seriously.

It definately is not the notebook for everyone. It is small and lightweight. It also lacks a DVD drive and is a bit slower than my MacBook Pro. BUT, it is just the ticket for travelling. I have not had to use a DVD drive in a long time other than to install Windows Vista etc.

The weird thing that tweaks out my friends, is that people everywhere randomly come up to you and want to look at it. No joke. In fact in the 30 minutes I have been at this mall in Northgate, no less than 3 people have come up and said something to me or asked questions. At Crossroads Mall, nearby Microsoft, it is even worse. Heck, I have had seminars going with, like, up to 5 people all sitting down at my table whom I did not even kn0w talkin’ Mac. Whoa. I love it. My friends HATE IT!

UPDATE:
While I was typing in the “save” key ANOTHER person came up and wanted to see it. So now, 4 people, hehe, good thing I love people, huh.

MacBook Air Ho!

Got my MacBook Air today.  Wow, it is all they say. Small, light, powerful, what I need in a portable in a nutshell. So far very happy. I guess I could have posted some pics of unboxing, but so many have done it before … Decent set of pics from Uneasy Silence. I am most happy so far. It isn’t my old Powerbook 12″, but in the modern day, I guess it will have to do. :)

Microsoft, Clueless or Sadist

I just had to reinstall SQL Server 2005 AGAIN on Windows Vista. Why, oh I don’t know, perhaps I have a bit too much enthusiasm. Sadly, this routine is a normal thing in the Microsoft world. To put this in perspective, I have NEVER, EVER had to reinstall ANY of my Apple tools for development. Ever. Even after upgrading the whole OS or the tools package. NOT EVER in 7 years. YEARS not months.

And people really have to ask why I switched to a Mac for my main box. I don’t know, maybe it is because I enjoy working with computers not fighting them. One day Microsoft may learn this lesson, but I do not hold my breath. Things are getting worse by the year not better and with Vista things are worse than I have ever seen.

I like Vista. I can’t stand the casual disregard Microsoft has shown for the people who use their products. It is really frustrating and as I have said many times before, ” Microsoft can take the wind out of anyone’s sails “.

Sigh…
